Winter-proof facecreams???

Last winter I used Clinique's extreme cold/weather face cream, as I tend to get a very sore/red/burning face when I've been out sorting the horses in the morning and evening (which tends to stay sore for ages after I've come in from the cold).

Can anyone recommend any other facecreams that aren't quite so expensive, but that might help with this?

Thanks!
xx

Stick to a decent nightcream but use a cheap, thick cream during the day....something like E45 or Nivea (gloop in a pot) as it will create a better barrier. Not very elegant or girly but it will help.

Bagbalm. :D I'm serious! I got it off eBay for bobbins. A tin lasts at least a year, and it keeps my skin clear as well as protecting it through a shitty Berlin winter. And winters are pretty shitty here.
I'd read about it being used by an eighty-something model called Carmen. She seemed both shrewd and very well-preserved, so I thought it would be a good buy. It was. :)

Body shop hemp cream, it's expensive but I suffer badly from dry skin in the winter due to the cold and it helps me, they also do a lip version and a hand cream :)

what do you rub on face at night and day?
also i had a vet once said his mother swears by udder cream to keep the roughest hand soft.

I suffer from exactly the same & my face feels like its stinging for ages after I come in. I use nivea moisturiser at night & dermatalogica barrier repair on cold windy days when I need it. It feels like you are putting a thin protective layer on your face without feeling like you have layers of cream on. Quite expensive but a little goes a long way.:)

Yep, I put the tiniest smear of it on as a moisturiser morning and evening after washing my face. It's got the consistency of vaseline – heavy and won't soak in as quickly as a fancy cream, but you hardly use any and obviously it lasts forever. And you can always use it on the horse/dog/cow too.

Hi Beauty Therapist here!!

You need a decent night cream, and a thin day cream ,then you have to use the magic ingredient!

On top of your day cream you need either a facial barrier or an SPF designed specifically for the face, SPF15 up to about a 20 is perfect for every day use, facial SPF's are less greasy than nornal sun cream so doesn't give you spots etc.

I wear an spf on my face every day 365 days a year, I even top it up if I feel the need to during the day.

Any local beauty salon should be able to point you in the right direction of the right product for you.

I use a cream from South Africa, not really expensive and lasts ages! Don't want to advertise on here though.

Handcream! Neutrogena or anything with beeswax, cheap, easy to find and brill for windproofing your face! Also ive been using it for years and at 30 (in a few months) i still get asked for id for buying lottery tickets.......

I use Ester Lauder Daywear Plus - all year round. I really suffer in the cold. I recently tried out a store brand face cream to try and save some money, a day one and a night one and neither them did much good so going to take out a small mortgage for a jar of my EL one again...
