I have qualified for the Winter Regions - I must admit I thought I was only half qualified but someone must have been eliminated or been put in the wrong section at a previous competition so my placing must have been pushed up. So it was a great surprise to get my letter on Monday.

I have been leafing through my BD rule book because a lot of the rules change when it is a championship (I have competed RC championship so know some but they may be different). I would hate to be eliminated on a technicallity.

I have only been a member of BD since Aug so this is all new to me. This is where you lot can help - I need info......

How many judges are there, where do they sit, do you salute them all or just one. How many competitors do you expect in a class? Any tips, advice....... anything really, gratefully received.

elementry there are three judges at C, M and H.
You salute just the judge at c.
40 competitors..? ish.
Please please please dont take you whip in as it is instant elimination.
And just enjoy your day out..

Cheers, I know about the whips and commanders because that is the same as RC National Champs - its the stuff that I dont know that I'm worried about.....argh

3 judges, forget about the ones that aren't at C though - you onyl salute to that one. and expect huge classes - at novice, there is usually 40 odd - goes on for hours! expect more arena decorations than usual and also there will be a commentator and you're normally asked to write a bit about you and horse which they'll read out as you enter the arena. watch out for pros trying to run you over in the warmup! other than that, just go and have fun! this will be the first year i haven't been since joining BD

Thanks for all your advice especially lisseygan about breathing - competition nerves could definitely stuff up any chance I have of not disgracing myself.

Thanks X
