Winter riding gloves

Hey all,

My hands were freezing today riding and I had gloves on, just cheapies that are ok for the rest of the year.

I would like gloves that keep my hands warm but aren't bulky, is there such a thing?
I've got thermatex ones for around the yard, no probs with mucking out etc but they'd be useless to ride in as grip and general feel is poor in them.

What do you guys use in the winter?
Oh and preferably a pair of gloves that doesn't break the bank

I suffer from extremely cold hands - to the point of pain! I bought Heritage Extreme gloves last winter:

And my hands were never cold, even through the snow/ice etc. The gloves are no too bulky and still have a really good rein-feel. Well worth the money, IMHO!

Last year I got a pair of winter Roekl gloves with fleece lining and a synthetic leather outer. Great gloves, washable and lasted all year.

These are really warm and are waterproof. Dad swears by there stuff

Ariat insulated Tek Grip gloves: these were recommended to me by someone on here and they are amazing. Really nice to ride in and so, so warm. In fact, when I wore them last week on a very cold, frosty day, my hands were actually too hot!

Thin, leather Roeckl gloves + surgical gloves!
Worked for me last year I buy large boxes of surgical gloves and change them regularly (use them for yard work too). They really insulate your hands, and stop the sweat from your hands making the insides of the gloves damp, which is a nightmare when you keep your stuff at the yard and come to ride the next day to find that at best, your gloves are damp, and at worst, they're frozen!
I didn't find them too thick at all, thought it worked quite well

I vote for the Sealskinz. Warm and waterproof, I used them all day hunting as well as around the yard. When it was very cold, I am a true wimp and feel the cold a lot, I wore silk linings underneath and that worked well.

I used to have a pair of knitted oiled wool gloves; wore them hunting, hacking, etc etc., and even though my hands got wet in them I'd never, ever feel cold in them. They were fantastic.

I've looked for a pair like it since - they were made of the same sort of oiled wool as the fisherman's jersey's were made of - but haven't been able to find a pair!

Coming a good second best is the Roekel fleece backed gloves with synthetic palm; OR (cheap and cheerful) I like the plain knitted gloves with the "grippy" pimply bits on the palm side - they grip brilliantly in the wet plus are lovely and warm.

Sealskinz are brilliant! I have two pairs, ladies riding gloves and a bigger bulkier pair for fishing ice out of troughs and other general cold wet jobs like picking out wet muddy feet etc.
I have had mine 3 winters and I would not be without them, they also are really useful when you are deicing the car.

I also vote for Sealskinz socks, great for keeping your feet warm and dry.

ski gloves they do them in TKMax for about £13 felt just as good as my sealskinz ones

i use Sealskinz , pimple gloves, riding gloves , hats, they are fantastic .
