winter rugs for thoroughbreds

Hi all,

Fred my tb has very large withers and his current heavy winter rugs have been known to push down on his withers making him a little sore and swollen when he is in them for a whole day/night.
The heavy weight turnouts I use are masta and weatherbeeta and seem to be excellent in all other ways.
What do you use for your large withered tb's? Thankyou

I always use rambos/rhinos as they are much lighter than the mastas and weatherbeetas, they also come up quite high around the neck.

same here rambos are excellent , my old tb came to me with huge sores on his withers but the high neck rambos fit a treat and hes lovely and toasty in them

If you want a good heavyweight the weatherbeeta taka is excellent on my thoroughbred!

I use premier equine on my TB. They seem a good fit with plenty of room. I do put a vest under them too which makes doubly sure there's no rubbing.

Horseware Ireland all the way because of the cut of the rug. It is a lot more forward cut than some.
