Hello.

I am soon moving up to Edinburgh with my horse due to me starting university and wanting to bring her with me.

It's obviously very cold in Scotland (much colder than the milder winters that we have down here in the South East). What rugs will I need to buy for her? She is an ISH but loses weight quite easily and will be clipped this year due to me wanting to ride a lot.

Thank you

It's actually not generally as cold as you would think, last year I don't remember it dipping much below -3. I'd say a good couple of 200g with necks and maybe 100g and 200g liners, or go for one of the Rambo systems with all the liners. I would say though prepare for your turnouts to be wet ALL THE TIME, I was glad to have multiple mw last year as they weren't drying in time over night.

I'd get a no fill turnout, a 200g turnout and a 100g under-rug to start with. This will give you the option of no fill on its own, no fill with under rug (100g), 200g turnout on its own, 200g with 100g under-rug (300g in total). If the weather gets really cold and/or you fully clip then you might want a 400g turnout. This way you will have at least two turnouts, so if one gets damaged you have a spare, but still have lots of options in terms of weight and warmth.

Rambo Duo with all the liners. They also dry quickly overnight if you need to. Extremely waterproof and will last you a long time. I have 2 horses and they both have 2 each. Bought them additional ones as they were in a sale at a price not to be missed. My mare's original one is 10yrs old, going into it's 11th winter. Fab rugs !
