Winter walking trousers for big thighs recommendations please

My winter trousers are finally earing the end of their life, and appear also to have shrunk in the wardrobe over the summer!

So I'm starting my hunt for a new pair and wondering if anybody has any recommendations please. Ideally I want something with a fleece lining or something like that as I do get cold legs. I have big thighs and hate trouser shopping and if they fit on the thigh they're generally massive on the waist, or else they fit the waist and are like sausage skins on my legs. Most walking trousers seem to be a skinny fit too, which really doesn't help people like me!

So if anybody has any recommendations please can you let me know? Thanks.

Not the same thing but personally I wear quite cheap thermal leggings (I got 2 pairs from Amazon, about £25 each). I prefer them to having wider trousers at the ankle as I can just wear long boots over them. Often just ride in them too. They are warm enough with my long coat over the top.

Thanks, I prefer to wear non-fitted trousers when not riding if I can due to the largeness of my thighs! Will take a look though as this may be the way to go if I can't get anything else and at least leggings would stretch with me!

I don’t know if they do fleece lined but Brashers are my go to. I have chunky thighs and a small waist and they’re spot on. Bit of stretch as well!

I've recently bought done ACAI thermal leggings, they are lovely and comfortable
They aren't cheap though but I bought mine in a flash sale they had
They have washed really well and I've worn them for walking, canitrekking and riding so very versatile
A friend also bought a pair and has dressed up in them for going out for a meal at a nice hotel
I had a 20% code off so have ordered another pair and a fleece

I have ACAI thermal trousers (2 pairs of the ones with the fleece lining) and a pair of their thermal leggings. The leggings are OK but I probably wouldn’t buy them again, but I do really like the trousers. However, they do get baggy overtime and my first pair are pretty huge in the waist now (but still fit great on my big thighs ).

I would also recommend Acai, their thermal trousers are my go-to for winter, I wear them for round the yard, coaching and to rugby matches, they're water resistant too. I have also just bought a pair of their thermal leggings for around the house and they are really comfy. I am by no means small and they fit!

I saw some fleece trousers at Decathlon last time. I haven't tried them as I was after some leggings but worth a look. Their black cotton leggings are fairly inexpensive, I use them when I need 2 layers in winter (jeans on top and leggings underneath).

I have long struggled with this as I like to wear walking trousers for saddle fitting. Almost everything is a bit big on the waist if it fits my thighs/calves, and too low in the waist, especially bagging out at the back. I think I've found my holy grail trousers, but they're pricey, even on offer - https://www.fjallraven.com/uk/en-gb/women/trousers/trekking-trousers/kaipak-trousers-curved-w. Fairly eco friendly, resist drizzle at least as well as most softshells, and I think they should wear like iron (probably better than softshells). They even have room underneath for my padded undertrousers, Powerstretch undies have plenty of room (I have a wide selection of under gear!).

Thanks for the recommendation. It is a lot to spend on trousers (and I'm feeling quite stingy at the moment!) but then again if they fit well and last a long time it's worth it. The pair I have on are over ten years old now and are still going strong (although a little snug nowadays!) so if they lasted that long it would be worth it.

I've had a bit of browse on their website and there look to be a few potential ones I could try. Perhaps Santa will be kind to me...

Do search for the cheapest prices, I got about £60 off mine. I am also finding they don't look as dirty as my softshells so quickly (I recently wore them 5 working days in a row), and they'll be year round as light weight for summer (very windproof though) so I may only need 2 pairs total once my others are gradually retired.

Thanks, that's worth knowing. I'll find the models I'm interested in and then have a look to see what I can get them for. Everything I wear seems to end up dirty almost straight away anyway, I don't know if it's me or the nature of the mud here. I went to a camp recently in a different area and was quite embarrassed by how stinky my appearance was compared to everybody else's!
