For you:
several pairs of gloves and several coats/gilets so you can layer up and down as necessary and if you get sopping wet have one that's dry
Several hats/ear warmers
A torch
waterproof/fleecelined chaps or overtrousers. Look at Rambo they're not too pricey, last years and very warm. I pretty much live in from Nov to April!

Horse:
spare rug especially outdoor rug in case it gets very wet and can't dry overnight

Grooming kit:
A sieve! When the water trough/bucket is frozen, break the ice with a big stick/stone, then use the sieve to pick the broken pieces of ice out. Saves your hands getting wet/cold. Taking the broken ice out stops it refreezing quite so quickly. I got mine from the £ shop and got 2!! Also good for picking out hay etc from water buckets even in the summer!

Gloves, thermal underwear, waterproof trousers (the fleece lined ones are lovely and cosy), head torch, gillet or a warm waterproof jacket (tkmaxx have some good quality ski stuff that is really warm)

And.....a giant bar of chocolate- hidden in your car......if you get freezing cold, or soaking wet there is nothing better than a few squares of chocolate to pick you up- comforting and the sugar warms! (Brandy is better- but i have to drive sadly)
