Hi All,
With the wonderful weather (hurrah!), we're now doing our lessons in the outdoor arena, however it can be a bit windy (at the top of a hill), so when I'm down the far end of the arena, I can't hear a thing my coach is saying (sometimes that's not a bad thing haha!). I've been looking online for some sort of system so we can hear each other, but they all seem to be super expensive!! Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to do this cheaper than using the 'equestrian' ones - they're all well out of budget for me!
Thank you ☺️ x

I never solved this, even with hearing aids. I arranged with the RI that I would come to her and halt and she would then tell me what she wanted me to ride next. Often I judged myself and told her that I was going to ride that movement again.

My daughter saved up for a 2nd hand Whis set - absolutle game changer, especially if it's windy. Totally worth every penny.

Cheap as chips is a pair of sport wireless headphones (the ones that curl over your ear so they dont fall out), phone in a pocket and then my instructor just rings me off her mobile!

Ooohhh now why didn't I think of that?!?! Thank you!! In this world of unlimited minutes for phone calls, this is brilliantly sensible 👏👏👏

I’ve heard people use motorcycle intercoms, but couldn’t tell you which ones. Might be worth a look at them on Amazon.
We use these for hacking. I'm partially deaf so can't hear traffic, but whoever rides with me is able to warn me of anything coming. They're also fab for long natters, which isn't easy when you're riding single file on the road lol
