I'm having a riding lesson tomorrow afternoon on my nutty mare, well I think she's nutty!

She was a bit fresh the first time I rode her after getting her home and bucked me off, so I have completely lost my confidence with her. My sister and YO have both ridden her, oh and my 13yo neice, and all said she is a lamb!

I have briefly walked down the road with her a few times since but I'm just terrified of pushing her past the slightly scary objects, like wheelie bins and peacocks! I just turn her round and head for home, which is, I know, the completely wrong thing to do but I just think that if I smack her she'll buck and I'll fall off.

Anyway, I'm having a lesson on her tomorrow to, hopefully, get my confidence back on track, in the confines of an indoor school.
Wish me luck!
Thanks

Im sure you will be fine I went through this with one of mine, he had me off once, and I just couldnt get back on, but to cut a long story short we are now working well as a team I have a wonderful instructor and we walk we trot we canter and we have been showing, all that is left to sort now is hacking and jumping.

You can do it

Thanks for that little ray of hope! I'd love to build up a bond with a horse and really be able to work properly as a team. Here's hoping!

Nothing stopping you take you time take the pressure off and take it one day at a time, I wish you all the best for the lesson, from little acorns big trees grow as i was told....

Good Luck, I was terrified of my horse when I first got her... Was sold to me as a bombproof cob... Hahahaha ROFL, right..... Four years on I still have her, we've bonded, I do trust her and she me, and she no longer frightens me, even though she still throws in spooks and spins. I just laugh at her now and me relaxing helps her to..

Take rescue remedy yourself as well as giving it the horse, I found it helped

Phew! Glad it's not just me then. Ok I'm not entirely terrified but am shocked at the wimp I've turned into. It must be having children that messes with your mind!
Will try and get my YO (the chauffuer) to take some pics so I can update you all after the event!
Thanks. I know I can do it just need a big kick up the backside!
