Some of you may have seen my post about sedation so I can get my pony's feet done.

He was terrified of the farrier who took his shoes off a couple of weeks back, but this time its my calm, patient barefoot trimmer who is coming. Going to try it with just patience and reassurance and see where we get too. Ive worked on him enough that I can now pick up all feet including the back and hold them for a little while.

I will let you know later how we get on.

Thanks x

It all went well :D

He was very nervous but the trimmer was amazing. She spent half an hour giving him a fuss and a groom and relaxing him before she introduced him to the rasp and tools (on both his sides) She really took her time with him and stopped when it was too much for him. Took her about 2 hours in total and she managed to do 3 feet fully but he was very worried about 1 of his hinds so she only managed to really check and neaten it up while it was on the ground.

So much better than when the farrier tried to remove his shoe. I cannot thank my trimmer enough for her patience. Sh eleft me some old tool to just get my pony used to them and hopefully when she comes back in 6 weeks, he will be much better :D

haha ! mine used to hate me for ages after ! glad it all went well, my mums old mare isnt keen on people, hates men even more, past owners werent great, was always awful for farrier, but found one that she likes now, quiet and patient. at least you have a good trimmer that will take the time with him ! hope next time is even better :)
