Has anyone used Wish upon a Star? Any constructive comments regarding his offspring and suitable mares would be greatly recieved. Thanks in advance

Yeah I do

Have met him a few times and have some pictures and videos of him and some of his babies....

What do you want to know?

Vicki

Craig - possibly something you already know, but from experience I can tell you that his semen quality has always been excellent in previous seasons, and his first cycle conception rate is very high (although as we did not perform all collections in 08 & 09 I cannot give you a percentage conception rate).

Hope that is useful

thanks for reply vicky. have seen videos at lion and saw him at knaptoft and his grading last year too.
wondered what his temperament is like? does he stamp his foals. We have a thoroughbred mare (proven advanced dressage) wanted to know what he produces with differnet stamps of mares.
tall order i know and possibly impossible to answer lol

On the occasions I have met him he has been very relaxed, when I met him at home he was a bit excited as the vet was there which ment he thought he was going to get some action!! He still stood nicely for us to see him and trotted sweetly(I still have the videos of those but there not on this computer, if you want to see let me know)

When I saw him at the champs at Gatcombe he was SOOOOO relaxed, esp in the warm up when there was lots going on. He jumped nicely, albeit with some pilot error. He looks incredibly easy to ride and just jumps for fun. On the XC he just pinged round, he looked so honest, even just jumping when put on a slightly duff one (I have vids of Gatcombe too)

When we saw him in the lorry park he was just standing, tied to the truck, relaxed with loads of people admiring him!

Im not sure that he has enough foals on the ground to see if he stamps them. I have heard that the babies tend to hold their mothers colour (which I hope as my mare is black!!)

These arnt my babies but a friends-

My mare is a full tb, she can be a bit sharp but I felt happy with Wiz being a sensible sort. She has really huge movement that belongs on a warmblood which is good as his movement isnt amazing. He has more bone than my girl which I wanted. So for me he was perfect I liked that he was quite rounded through his shoulders (and he shows that movement in his jumping too) as my mare is quite "flicky" if you know what I mean, he also had more compact cannons which would probably suit most TB mares well.

I was also really impressed with his BE record. Esp winning his first 1* after only 1 It. run. I also heard that his SJ at le lion was pilot error but didnt see it myself.

As Andypandy said, my mare took on first cycle (late in the season too)

Does that help? I think I have waffled!!! If you want to videos, I can email them
