With 2014 looming...

Flying sideways off a horse at speed.. and wanting to get straight back in the saddle!! (was stopped by other staff due to being in shock, but ah well). Then freaking out each time I tried to canter a few weeks later, and getting over it!

What's yours, Queenbee?? :)

Biggest achievement: Finally getting my hands on the horse I fell in love with almost 10 years ago. Bought him in January so almost had him for a year :)

Most significant moment: There's been a few... not sure whether it was the cow incident which I still laugh about... horse spotted a herd of cows descending on us while we were on a hack, done a prompt 180 turn on the spot and legged it. Was the first time in YEARS I'd been ran off with, and had I not been so busy laughing at the shock of how fast he could actually go I'd have probably cried lol

But I do think the best thing is hearing him whinny when he sees me coming down the road. Doesn't matter what he's doing, as soon as he spots me he shouts over a big 'hello' and comes running over to the gate. Love him :)

This was the year I finally got all 6 of my children riding out, cantering over the hills with me, laughing and chatting. Oldest is 16, youngest is 7. Pure magic.

However, most 'memorable' moment was probably poor little Rosie getting clothes lined off her pony in the spring and breaking her arm. Ah well, I had to break one of them eventually...

Biggest achievement....finding a home for our big lad with someone we have known for decades, with his own land and a soft heart.

The worst thing..... having to say goodbye to him when we moved abroad.

Well I've had quite a few this year...
Firstly Doodle, getting placed at a proper County level show (Cheshire!), I know it sounds a little daft as we didn't win or anything but she is 20years old now and it's been on my list to have a go at 'county' level for a while.
Also getting in hand reserve champion at the Cherif with her was an utterly amazing moment that won't be forgotten, such a special show for us.

With Topaz, well it's been a year for it... Highs of a top three placing at a ode, which was a result of her complete turn around in the dressage arena. We've done 7 tests this year, and our first five of pure dressage we scored: intro 70+%, prelim 62-70+%, novice ~68%!!! For a horse that couldn't canter a 20m circle when we got her and had really only been jumped, I never thought we'd be doing a novice test well, and have talk of her going very far...
These scores also included the two times she forgot herself. We had the 'corner of doom' prelim that scored 70.5% even with a disobedience and me going wrong, and also the last test where we cantered and leapt about for most of the test but still managed 62% so clearly when it's good it's good, (we did get an awful lot of fours on that sheet though lol)... Still cannot believe I'm thinking of taking her affiliated next year as I cannot stress what an unexpected twist this is, of all the disciplines dressage would have been the last we expected Topaz to excel in and enjoy!
But then where there is a high there is a fall, and in our case a crashing fall that has meant yet another year of no BE. Which has been the plan since we got her four years ago, and taken us three years before it wouldn't be a waste of money taking her...
There is always another year though!

I think mine has been carrying on progression jumping and improving my confidence to be jumping 80cm without thinking about the height, and getting placed in all of my BUCS comps last year. I haven't done much bar BUCS and lessons though for A while!

Nothing :0( I was planning on taking my chap jumping this year but finding out I was pregnant two weeks before the first session put pay to that! Aiming to do a fun ride next year and work up from there :0)

Had a fantastic year with the horse. Have gone from not getting on or riding, and tbh barely even being brave enough to handle the horse, to jumping a 3ft course with doubles, hacking out in company with no one walking beside us. To fast cantering/galloping across a mile of stubble field,to riding in a river, to jumping round Boomerang XC, to jumping ditches and water trays and walls. I love my horse! Best horsey year of my life! :D

Finally got back in the saddle after 4 years out and am now the proud owner of my gorgeous chap H.

No major milestones as yet as I've only had him a few months but considering how scared I was to ride him once I got him home I'm still pretty proud of our progress which has seen us hacking out alone and in company, cantering out hacking and finally braving a canter and few jumps in the xc field.

My proudest moment though has definitely been teaching him to lunge correctly and seeing him go from the pone who would spin, turn in and kick at me when I asked him to lunge to the handsome chap that has suddenly sussed out how to balance himself and does transitions on voice aids alone :)

My most memorable achievements have been finishing 8 months of rehab following surgery on a tendon on my daugter's cob to take her out competing at unaffiliated dressage and winning many friillies - the best pair being mum and daughter wins at prelim at the same event on the super mare. A very proud moment.
Other memorable achievements have been seeing my beautiful WB blossoming with the tireless rehab work my trainer and I have put into him over the summer and looking to compete in dressage with him next year.

My biggest achievement... Making it to a county show, my first county show, bens second show a week after his first when he went into full meltdown, having Ben behave impeccably and not looking out of place. I don't do showing, so I set my self a stupidly high target, many on here even counselled me to call it off, I was stressed to the eyeballs. But from loading up at 6 am on Wednesday morning to unloading at 5 pm on Thursday afternoon he was a saint and I had a fantastic time.... Hugely proud of Ben and myself.

A couple of token images of the day, one taken by another HHOer who I had never met but who sought us out to give support :)

Oh, QueenBee I LOVE your horse! And what a fab achievement!!! :D

This was the first year of proper work with my horse, (he'd been backed the previous year, hacked out a bit and then turned away) so we have achieved loads this year
We got some lovely rosettes, he learnt to jump and we did our first few intro dressage tests!

Think my greatest achievement was coming 2nd in a mini one day event! I was very proud :D

Aww fanks, RG, currently he is muddy, unclipped and looking all rugged and manly until I turn up at the yard and he spoils it by whinnying like a girl :D.

You've done loads! I really want to get my backside in gear and do some little sj classes with him this winter :)

Chan, I'm so glad that Ned came sound x and congrats on the first (I can't believe I missed that!) although I'd say your biggest achievement was probably finding him after the great escape!

Queenbee Ben is absolutely gorgeous ♥♥

I guess I dint have any "achievements" as such but (with alot of help from HHOers) I have sorted out all of my horsey issues and am now concentrating on my youngster who is my world. Its taken alot of soul searching etc but coming on here and getting proper advice from non- bunny-huggers has made a huge difference :)
Hopefully this time next year I will be able to say how greats things have been going with my boy :)

Nothing truly amazing but I managed to keep the 3 oldies sound and healthy and FINALLY won my battle against confidence problems after a nasty fall last year. Went from not wanting to ride at all to doing 2-3 hour hacks this year and loved every minute. :)

Some amazing achievements by other posters and has given me some ideas of things to aim for next year! :)

achievement = going reserve at the veteran horse pony and rider club championship show, and being told he was stomping by a lovely welsh judge (given that he has had foot issues ;) )

significant= moving him from my mum's in somerset to wiltshire with me, and moving house to have him outside the back door, it's been amazing.

There have been many memorable moments, my youngsters first year being ridden.

The most memorable were our first ride at the beach where we also had our first canter under saddle and our last hack before his winter break as he was so confident and really enjoyed himself which made me love it too :)

Achievement- Coming 2nd in our first ever elementary.

Significant- Calling her from the top of the field and her coming all the way from the bottom. Two years ago it used to take me half an hour of chasing her round to finally catch her! Love her naughty little ways :D

How could I forget - we also went to our first ever gymkhana, and won... with this scruffy little fella. We got a cup and everything!

Good old Bruin. Cantered in the walk and trot; trod on the egg in the egg and spoon; but he still came in first.
