Sadly due to personal circumstances and time it looks like I will have to sell my youngster. Heart breaking decision but she just isnt getting the time she deserves with me and its possible that in the near future finances will be unable to support two.

So, she is and Irish bred (no parentage) dark dun mare, very pretty, aged 4 (by dentist) but passport says 5 unfortunately, still very green but hacking out beautifully in all paces even giving leads to older horses past scary lorries! Balance and ease in the school is getting better but I've concentrated on hacking to build her up slowly as she's still growing. Fabulous jump loose, easy to shoe, good in stable but can be grumpy with food. I think really highly of her and think she will be fab hence the heart break

Any suggestions on price would be great, thanks in advance.
 
you don't say how big she is, this will affect price. also, is she an event type, or heavier? pic would really help too.
she sounds sensible and straightforward, that and her colour should push her price up as long as conformation is good etc.
 
Oops! She's a good 16.2hh and middle weight, real event type and good stamp with conformation that my vet thinks is good- any ideas on rough amount?
 
4-4.5k I reckon. Both the horses I have brought have been similar description to that and in the same price bracket. One was very good looking, moved well etc and was 4k, the other has an exceptional attuitude and jump with good breeding and was 4.5k though advertised at more. they were both slightly smaller though, bigger youngsters have a slightly more limited market I think?!
 
4 and a half thousand for a hack? Just because a horse LOOKS like it can be a sport horse doesn't mean you should charge a bomb and a half for it. Especially when the age is being dithered over and there's no bloodlines.

Even for a hack, a lot of people will pay for colour. I wouldnt bother wth saying about the age as it may be off-putting. If she can jump (under saddle or loose schooled id say 3.5k-4k.
 
Agree in principle Starman, and it does heavily depend on that word "potential".... you try and find a young horse that moves well and has a good jump for under 3k.... add looks and temperament

Starman, where does it say she's a "hack"? at her age the fact that all she's done is hack around is fine imho, not all of us want young horses that have done too much too soon! IF she has good conformation, straight movement, nice loose jump, moves well, good attitude, at that size, that colour and sex, i'd say £4k-£5k, more if she's exceptionally nice. lack of breeding deets wouldn't worry me tbh, she is what she is when you go to see her!

Thanks guys, kerilli I dont have great pics at the mo and total technophobe but if someone can point me in the direction of how to post one then I will!

Re just hacking I really dont like rushing youngsters and she is going so well that I want her to dictate when she is ready so as not to spoil her. Loose jumping wise though she pops 1.40m happily so the potential is there for the right rider to bring out! She's clever too but a really lovely girl- I'm so disappointed to have to be selling her really and the right home is so important that I would happily give on price for the right one. That said the reason for the post is that I often think underpricing a horse when advertising can be as bad as overpricing.

Thanks for the help so far though, good food for thought.
