Well yesterday , all the rain managed to burst the banks of the brook and turn the fields in to a river :O I hadn't noticed how bad it was until I walked up to the brook field and noticed that it had totally overflowed.

Anyway- my horse is a bit special.. he normally likes to have a good splash when I take him in the brook

But without me to stop him, he found a big puddle that had spread in to his field, and stood splashing for ages! He then decided this was not effective enough to satisfy his love for water and did this..

Yep... lay down in the puddle and stayed there for a good while!!

Interestingly his friend on the right, who has lived there for 6 years has never splashed in the water and totally ignored it! But he stood watching my horse, then started copying his splashing  .. ok, but then he waited until my horse got up and also lay down in the water... I'm sure I read an article not long ago about how horses do NOT copy behaviour!!

Silly horse :p

oh bless ! friends horse used to do this - she realised it was because he was too warm with the rugs she was using and was tryiing to cool off !! not saying that is the case with yours but worth checking ! either that or he is just loopy !

Yes the rugs were soaked! But he has two layers of turnouts on , and it kept him dry underneath by some miracle- he was sent to his stable to keep dry as I couldn't trust him out all night!

He's is definitely not too hot :) I check them regularly don't worry! And he is definitely loopy ! he just loves water, I think I should take him swimming in the spring!

He is such a character!
