So today i was on placement at the vets as usual and was watching a bitch spey on a little mixed breed young dog. Her heart stopped half way through the op and must have been dead for around 3 good mins. The head vet nurse did an amazing job and all the staff and just about managed to bring her back and i mean just!. then had to bring her round with open wound then gas her and stitch up poor thing!. she came round and was fine no brain damage or issues and was released later to her owners they think there was a underlying issue which made this happen. Vet nurse said what happened today this bad has only ever happened to her very few times. I was kind of glad i was there to help with the drip ect.. and that a witnessed it. Made me realise all this training is worth it when you can save a life. Today has just made me want to persue my veterinary training even more. Didnt enjoy cleaning up the ovaries and re locating them into the bin haha! but hey ho.. just thought i would share it with you. Felt like miracles can happen
