Am well and truly gobsmacked

new saddler brought my dressage saddle back yesterday as it's had flair put in it and WOW what a difference it has made to Pidge

I can feel so much more what his back is doing, his back is freer, and he is mouthing the bit again and is soft over the back, and is far more willing to go in an outline. It feels like sitting on a powerhouse as there is so much energy but it is all containable and he is nowhere near as stilted in his striding

The biggest and best improvement though for me is his canter as we have struggled with this for a while as he goes inside out

today however his right canter was beautiful, lovely and soft and round and no rushing whatsoever, in fact after Mooch had had a play too, I let him canter nearlly on the buckle end of the rein and he didn't change pace but just dropped and kept cantering
smile.gif
previously he would have motorbiked at high speed round the school

and his left canter is his worse so still slightly inside out but absolutely nowhere near as bad as before and he picked up left lead perfectly every time.
So one very very very very happy mummy

Bearing in mind how much he has muscled up since I had him it is interesting that he has lost muscle under the saddle
mad.gif
hopefully now that will soon be rectified

Oh and to top it all off my jump saddle comes the middle of next week too so I can start jumping him again

Major cookies if anyone got this far but I am just over the moon

I am in need of a new saddle - can I ask where you got your saddle from and who the fitter was? PM me if you like - thanks.

kept my saddle that I'd had made and had flair put in it as the saddles I'd had hadn't allowed him to muscle up under the saddle

Will PM you who I used.

no, nice lady called Mel that my instructor highly recommended.
Which events are you doing at Eland this year? Are you having a go at their ODE?

The midweek BSJA shows, the Hunter Trials and the unaffil ODE. The aim is to start BE Intro by the end of the year.

Be aware that some significant changes to the XC course are underfoot...

can only afford them because my husband died of cancer

still have my jump saddle that doesn't fit and previous dressage saddle from my old horse so got lots tied up in those that are no good to me

Am doing dressage on Tuesday again so will see if there is any improvement

Pig arcs are being replaced with hanging logs.
Logs in front of the brick kiln being replaced with brick walls.
BE Intro will get a small boat.
BE Nov will go down the hill in to the new water jump.
Cheese wedge being used again.
Table Top Logs going to be replaced with something new.
BE Intro will have a new blind jump on to the Pimple.
Jump a hedge in to next door's field, do a few steps and others, then come back through the woods.

Well although it is officially closed, we have an eventing clinic with Brooke Shields next Sunday, so it cannot be that closed!

It was fine underfoot today, although I didn't jump, so I cannot comment on the takeoff and landing areas.
