Do any of you have horses wolf teeth removed routinely whether or not they are causing a problem? Last teeth check revealed my 4 year old still has his (I have only had him 6 months) but vet didn't think they were causing any trouble but he did offer me the option of taking them out at next appointment. Any one had this done and were there any problems?

ETS- just don't want to cause him distress if its for no reason as he would have to be boxed to the vets, sedated etc. And worried about infection afterwards.

Two of my horses have them, vet offered the same to me but I decided to leave as no problems. This was 10 and 12 years ago.

When I got my 4yo at the beginning of the summer, at the 5* vetting the vet noticed he still had his, and said in his opinion he would leave them as they weren't loose or causing problems at that moment in time etc :) So we've been keeping a close eye on them and so far no issues have arisen xx

Unless they cause a problem they are fine to be left, however if you do want them removed unless they are really tricky most are done with little fuss, at home, lightly sedated if required and no worries about infection, they heal very quickly in the mouth.
