Anyone know how long he will need off afterwards. I could prob ride in a hackamore couldn't I?
Also who would you use to do it, a vet or a dentist? Would appreciate your opinions
Thanks

If I remember correctly, Arch had a week off then I rode him in a rubber snaffle. I lunge him in a head collor for a week aswell.
Its up to you who you have to do it, but the vet will have to come out to sedate the horse. I would prob say get the dentist to take the teeth out though.

My dentist removed my mare's wolf tooth, and the other fell out on it's own

I rode her the same day it was removed (it was done without sedation) and didn't have any problems at all

My mare had to have her wolf teeth out..The Vet came out to do the sedation and the Dentist came to take the teeth out..Think she had a few days off to recover...All I remeber was the dentist showing me a tooth covered in blood and I hit the deck!

oh a week is not too bad. It is just bad timing cos have loads of things coming up I want to do! I could ride him in one of those kelly marks headcollar thingys, I think we have one somewhere.
Thanks

QR - wolf teeth don't have much roots and dentist can remove them. I've seen a couple removed when I spent the day with my EDT and it was quick and seemed relatively pain free. He said just to put bonjela on it to aid healing and give the horse a couple of days "bit free"

I've got to have this done on a mare we've just bought (2 teeth). I've been told 2 weeks off work afterwards by our vet who is also a qualified EDT. Although he did indicate a week off and then bitless for another week would probably be OK. Apparently they are quite big ones... We're going to get it done after the school holidays as it's my daughter's pony.
