On our way home from a hack in the woods tonight, we happened to come to a nasty uphill junction, just as the lady we bought our trailer from was trying to get her 3.5t horse box up the steep hill and into the road that leads to her house.

H and I stood and watched, while controlling the traffic and shouting words of encouragement, but every time she tried to move, the box just stalled. In the end she accepted my offer of help, so I rode H across the main road and 'parked' him in a side road with a friend and fellow rider who just happened to be passing, took off my riding hat and hopped in.

I had no idea where 1st was, so I had a quick thrash about with the gearbox, selected what I figured was the right gear, gave it a boot load of throttle and off we went, complete with the lady's precious Quarter horse in the back, no problem.

The trouble was she was being far too kind to the throttle and clutch bless her, but with a Neanderthal at the wheel it was no problem.

H just stood and watched somewhat bemused as I drove off leaving him behind. Not that he was bothered, as my friend was making a big fuss of him....he's such a TART!

So, what was your good deed of the day?

Well, clever old you! I am a woman driver and can drive a horsebox and have done so for years, I can reverse a trailer through the eye of a needle aswell. Dont tar all wimin with your small brush!

My good deed of the day - washed my friends gelding's sheath in the horse shower, makes her shudder. I too am a dab hand at towing and driving a 7.5tonner so there!!

I was on the way to a show going down a narrow road when we were stopped in a line of traffic by the police. A boy racer had flipped his car over.
They were turning everyone aroung and cane to me looking worried and said 'you will never turn that around, do you want someone to back it up for you?' wtf??!! I asked them to get the car behind me to move out the way and procceded to do a three point turn with my jeep and trailer infront of pc nobalob.:p
Ha not bad for a 'women driver' eh? EH?! lol

Pass me a yorkie! :D:D

Yea, pass me one with NUTS in!!!!

The day before yesterday my good deed was to take a stray dog home. Today my good deed so far has to refrain from burning down the sheltered housing project with all its spotty little ridiculously loud music playing occupants locked inside, but if they don't quiet down a bit soon I may not keep that one up:rolleyes:

Well I would support women drivers, but I nearly crashed my dads car the other day, needless to say I'm not aloud in it anymore :P. My good deed the other day was cleaning my friends horses sheath with my hand right up there! And today my good deed was catching a horse for someone else and sweeping the yard after the farrier came after the other 2 customers left :D

I emptyed a friends lorry toilet she can show an arab stallion in english and western classes ..... but toilets ????? :D

It's funny how my gelding suddenly returns to his true owner whenever anything of a 'willy washing' nature is required. :D

Toilet emptying...that's not a good deed of the day, that deserves a years worth of your favourite chocolates...

Pastie, sorry to offend, this was supposed to be a humorous posting, and the poor lady in question really was stuck. The only other man on the scene was about as much use as a chocolate tea pot.

OK, I admitt it, I revert to sterotypical woman driver syndrome when it comes to moving my girl.

At home when the trailer is empty I can back it perfectly - but - put my precious girlie in and I come over all wimpish.

My long suffering hubby always gets the job of horse towing - that way we all get there in one piece!!

I'd also add that I can back a 3.5t lorry, drive a teleporter and forklift - just seem to loose the plot if my horse happens to be involved!! :o

I drive a 17 tonne lorry better than most men so I've been told. I've driven a caravan all over Europe and can reverse either within an inch on their lives. I am a woman driver.

In my experience woman drivers are often the worst around horses.
They are ignorant and don't give a ***** about riders or their horses it seems. Even the girls and thier horses from the local stables aren't bothered about zooming past me and ned stupidly close at stupid speeds.
I have been looking everywhere for a 'Kill your speed not my horse' sticker in french for the car but haven't been able to track them down.. I wear reflecitve stuff whilst hacking I'm not sure any of the french in my area have ever heard of it though as the only place I can get hold of stuff is on english ebay?
Saying that, There are some bloody nice lorry drivers out there, They are the nicest I have found, they often slow down to pass and If the ned is being a * I have had several of them turning off their engines and waiting for us to go by.
I always thank nice drivers but it seems there aren't many out there... :(

My good deed was feeding my friend's horses for her this morning. At PC, my daughter's pony is really easy to do and we were usually the first ones to leave after a rally. One of the dad's asked if I could be the last to leave at one venue as he felt I drove too slowly down the single lane country roads and didn't like being stuck behind us  My reply was that he should be able to load his horse quicker :p
