I have a mental image that lots of women on this forum look and sound like Lady Maude Lynchwood. I know it cannot be right, but it makes me fall about laughing, especially when they're having a go at me.

Not being rude I hope, but it does make me laugh.

I'd never heard of her so I googled and discovered she was a character in a very old tv show, I didn't manage to find a picture of her though.

When I read your posts I read them in that really drawling redneck accent so I guess we're quits ;)

Silly me, of course I am familiar with lady maude. By the way ,google have got it all wrong. Blott was a german saboteur and all the explosives and stuff were what he was sent over here with. Tom Sharpe rocks. Also suggested reading for the less sensetive HHo er would be "riotous assembly"

Its not about being too young to understand the reference ,its about only reading books with a picture of a pony on the front cover!

Off to google LM Lynchwood.....
My OH claims I talk and sound like Sarah Beeney. Not sure if that's good or bad!

I always tend to think of everyone as characters from the original cast of St Trinians, the riotous 4th formers, the beautiful 6th formers and the hapless Joyce Grenfell horrified at the chaos. Flash Harry must be here somewhere...
Personally, friends have always been likened me to Ad Fab's Patsy Stone, although OH says I'm more Hyacinth Bucket.
Sometimes, OH doesn't deserve me...and he says I'm right there.....:p

Brilliant!! I loved St. Trinians, but I don't think todays youth (anyone under 60 years old!) would understand!!!

I am a cross between the Jennifer Saunders character in 'ponies' & the little kid that rides Kipper in Thelwell depending which of my scruffy Thelwell stylee ponies I am riding :D

I imagine some members on here being the stereotypical old school riding ma'am, ample bosom upholstered in tweed, shining black boots which she repeatedly wacks with a vicious looking whip, hairney firmly ensconced on head at all tines & booming voice :D

In the winter, with his lovely fluffy coat, my sleek arabs do indeed turn into shaggy Thelwell types.

When the spring grass comes through, some of the other classic cartoon images are fairly accurate as well !

Oh dear. I don't look like her (no norkage and although broad in the beam, not that broad), but I have often been accused of sounding not dissimilar. It took me years to lose the 'r' out of 'off'. Now I am older, I occasionally put it back in on purpose, especially when confronted with unsavoury characters who like to make it their aim in life to take the 'posh b1-t-c-haitch' down a peg of two. Yes, you snotty little oik neighbour, I'm talking about you.
