Took the Donkey to a local show yesterday, so Sunday night poor girl had a cold bath on the yard, then ever tried to plait up one inch long mane recovering from rug rub??? It's hard work!!
She loaded well, arrived entered my classes, as follows:
In hand
Best Groomed - did not get a look-in
all placed had washed white bits - we don't have those!!
Hunter type - Placed 4th - Turbo Donkey was in the ring - she cantered when I asked for trot, I was so proud of her!!!!!Judge asked me to trot her up a second time before placing - I panicked that she was lame again, but no he was checking how badly she dished - I would have won (I was informed) if it had not been for this
Ridden Classes
Had entered Style and Appearance and suddenly realised that this is the pretty horses with the navy and brow band brigade - so went and switched for Ridden Horse - Enter Turbo Donkey again
, forward going, cantered when asked etc!! In front of one of the local opinionated know it alls and her daughter, who were nit picking away at me - I was placed 2nd - and the worlds tackiest trophy ever!!!!!!- Hubby said I was grinning from ear to ear - She is the best Donkey in the world
Hunter Class
By this time the Turbo had run out of steam - and we went back to Donkey
and we only managed 4th.
I think Competition mix is finally having the desired effect, however I still need more umph so local feed store have ordered me a bag of racehorse mix and I am going to give her a small amount in her feeds!!
Cowbag did not want to go home, took 20 mins to load her (I know 20 mins in loading time is nothing, but I really want her to go straight in!)
Only photo hubby took of the day was of Bumble Dog asleep in my jumper on the grass, but I love it - all the stuff we use at a show scattered everywhere - and Donkey doing what she does best in the back ground - Eating!!!!!!!!!
