Wonderful article about dressage and horses' backs by Heuschmann

Im on reading it now, found the bit about the short backs being more likely to be tense than a long back fascinating, makes perfect sense though when you think of the horses anantomy. Thanks for this Kerilli, good reading!

LOL!

He certainly is,I wish articles like this were featured in more places, I think half the time its not deliberate ignorance, its the wrong information being passed on and on.

Thanks for this - its very interesting. I am obsessed with backs and saddles etc as you know. I also found it interesting the comments about short backs which is the opposite of what we are all lead to believe but makes perfect sense when you think about it and also totally fits in with what I have found with my own short-coupled mare.
My dressage instructor is German and when I first starting having lessons with her it was like no other lessons I'd ever had as her system was totally different to how I'd ever been trained before - but the results have been fantastic both in how my horse has progressed with her dressage but also in terms of the development of her topline and strength of her back.
