I have wonderful news so far about the mini posted about yesterday.
GEUSS WHAT!!!!!??? Our VET even had us PICK HIM UP to weigh him!!!!
He was 28 lbs in case anyone wants to know
Vet determined that casts would not be needed and determined it was a selenium deficiency from the womb.
We are very lacking in selenium in our soil in this area and most pregnant mares should be supplimented to prevent leg deformaties. The woman did have licks with selenium in them but the mare must not have absorbed enough.
Guess what the treatment is?........................
A $5 shot of selenium and time
He said drastic improvement will happen in 3 days time and continue to get better.
he was not at all concerned as the foal is up on his hooves and thinks all will be well with him
what a wonderful day
