Well my beloved Wonky Donkey went to his new home on Sunday. I tried to keep my composure, but couldn't help but cry as I led him onto the yard for the last time before getting his bits and pieces together. There were about 10 people from the yard to say goodbye to him and give him lots of cuddles. Loading him onto the box was the hardest thing I had to do, he went straight on and we had a few moments together before they set off.
I have been through so much with him, and I knew it was always going to be incredibly difficult. It would have been so easy to keep him, but I know that I had done all I could with him and it was time for him to move on to a new home.
His new home is brilliant; I couldn't ask for better people. His new owner is a 7 year old girl who is a fantastic little rider and fell in love with Wonka after riding him. She doesn't know she has got him, they have told her he has been sold, but she keeps talking about him. They are going to take her to the yard on Christmas day and then get her to call me and let me know how excited she is! They are keeping in contact with me and I just had a text to say they have given Wonka a lesson in how to correctly use a likit!
As I said, I'm happy as the owners are brilliant and I know it is best for him, but there is an edge of sadness - he will always be my wonky donkey.
