Just had saddler out and I'm putting more weight through to my right hip making poor horse unbalanced.

I've been trying to do lots of stretches and seem tighter in my left hip.

Never had any kind of human treatment for wonky bits before- should I try a physio?

thanks :)

My local chiro levelled up my wonky hips (I was sure it was the horse who was lopsided!). The difference to your riding is amazing.

I go back every couple of months for a "top-up".

i have scoliosis so do exacly this, i used to ride a wonky horse and as a result we equaled(sp) each other out!! which was nice as i actually felt straight for once! and he was one to be nasty at times and drop a shoulder. None the less never affected me so where he got most people off on a canter/gallop i never dropped! lmao he never worked out to do it with the other one else i would have hit the deck in seconds!

its hard to work out how to sit with out causing a stright horse damage! i find riding bare back, or stirrupless makes you work out where you need to put pressure. Or treless as you can feel the difference (and also if you put too much pressure on one, the saddle slips! lol! this is a good indecator to sort your self out! :)

My daughter is at the chiros (again) tomorrow for exactly the same thing. Really strong right leg & the left is flapping in the wind. Chiro fixes it every time. It's getting longer between each visit now....but she's only 9 & growth spurts don't help!

Massive thanks to everyone who's replied- feel better that I'm not alone in my wonkiness!
Reassurring to know that it's something which can be worked on too.

Will let you know how I get on. :)

A physio definitely helped me get more even after a dislocated shoulder. I also find yoga or pilates really helpful in letting me know where I'm unbalanced and they help to strengthen the weak parts and increase body awareness.

I've had a major difference in each rein for years and never did anything about it, a recent fall though and my hip felt 'out'. I visited a McTimoney chiropracter who said my pelvis was rotated and straightened me out in 3 visits - such a difference. I still feel slightly off after riding though, so having my boy looked at too as he has probably been compensating for my wokiness all these years. Would def recommend McTimoney and plan to have regular top ups to keep straight!

I think I'm going to have to go down that route. I've had shoulder probs on and off for years, frequent dislocations and two operations... I've just taken my saddle in to be flocked today and its worn to one side much more. I've felt crooked and stlff for a while.

This thread has cheered me up, was quite depressed about being squiffy before - but of course I am after years of using one arm to carry/lift everything for years!

I have a osteopath and physio as I have pelvis trouble from fracturing it before. It tends to go and I end up moving everything else to one side, I'm slowly going longer between appointments but they also give me exercises to do at home to help. I can normally tell now when I am so nip it in the bud, I got so use to my body going out of place is took my saddlefitter to tell me that I was riding wonky :o
