Won't stop growing!

*handsoverears*

Goof is 16.1hh and thats a nice comfy height......he looks very much in proportion and more like a 6yo so am hoping he doesnt have much left to go (he is 4 in 2016).

he is already cube shape so if he goes out any more god help me!

Also reading in horror :eek3::eek3::eek3::eek3: and in the denile that Skylla who's 3.5 will stay at 15.2hh :D (I am refusing to acknoweldge that she looks the same height as Topaz who last measured at 15.3hh)...

She will stay under 16hh right??

Adding a step ladder to my Christmas list...

They never do what you want them to. I got a tiny (15.1hh) early 4yo who was meant to grow both parents over 16hh, but he never grew an inch. If he had been 16.1hh then he probably would have grown 5 inches!
My current 4yo has just got new rugs because her bum was sticking out. Don't think she has grown upwards though and is just scraping 16hh. Wouldn't mind another inch or 2, but not too bothered. She has a lot of filling out to do though.

I love reading these sort of threads.

I have a 3 1/2 year old heinz and she is currenty 15'1/15'2, im happy with that height but anything she makes now will be a bonus as she has outgrown her mum already :D

Bought a 16.2 ISH at 4, sold him 8 months later to a proper hunting home as he went upto 17.2 and I was frankly completely ineffective on him! Friend bought a lovely 15.3 ISH mare at 5. Mare stopped at 16.3. My mare is TB (16.2) X cob (15hh) and ended up at 16.3 which is more than a hand bigger than her siblings!

I feel your pain

this is my 2, both connie x tb's. the buckskin is 29 in this pic and about 15'1 now, the gelding is 4 in the pic and about 16'1, he was supposed to make 15'2

My 3 1/2 year old has never seemed overly big but he is steadily growing upwards. Vet is convinced he will be 17.3hh + whereas I am hoping for 16.2-16.3hh max (which is only an inch or two away). When I got him as a yearling I asked the breeder what she thought he would make...the answer 'well his siblings and other close relatives have ranged from 15.1 to 18.2hh so I should think somewhere in that range'. Not overly helpful there.
In the last few months he has really shot up but I am hoping he settles down and starts growing out rather than just up.

He also looks to be bum high in these photos (though may be the angle) - so more height to be expected??

Me too! I bought my mare age 2 and measuring around 14.2. Both parents were 16hh. I wanted something at least 15.3 because although I prefer small horses I am around 5' 10". Last time I measured her (age 4 and a half) she was only just 15hh. I don't expect her to grow any more, but I'm not selling her. I will just have to stay under ten stone and look a bit leggy on her.

My share horse's parents were a 15hh Sec C x Shire x TB and a 15.3 TB. He is 17hh and WIIIIIIIIDE. He was known by his breeders as "the little man" as his older full sister was even bigger than him. When my friend bought him at 5 he was just scraping 16.1. He was wide even then though and hasn't really filled out since then. At 19 he's still in the same saddle he had at 5 with only minor adjustments here and there - mostly in the last 6 or 7 years!

What Bred or type has every one got of these fast growing horses?

I have a Tb and his dad is 17''1 and mum was 15'3 he is now 16'1 and not bum high (for once) do often wonder if he will go up again

when i brought him 18 month ago he was in 5'9 rugs now going in to 6'6!! my wallet doesn't like this!!

Mines 5 and 17.3... He was 16.1 at 3....
Mine is a dutch warmblood!

This was last yr. He hasn't really got much taller, too scared to measure him. But he's filled out a lot. He's so stocky now. And at times I still think he's bum high. He's 5 and a half now :/

My part bred Selle Francais is currently 15.2hh-ish at 2.5 years.
Mum is 15.1hh and Dad 16hh, most of Dad's babies have been tall! All of the measurements (cannon bone, and elbow to fetlock) have her to make 16.2hh so we'll see!!
She's been quite evenly growing up and out, looks to make a nice hunter type which is what I wanted :) but 16.2hh would be fine...!

My 2.5 year old (3 next March) was meant to reach 15.2 he is that already if not a bit more and over summer went from 5'9 rugs to 6'3 and I think he will be in 6'6 by next summer. I am a bit terrified he's going to end up around the 17.2 mark or something (I know unlikely but you never know)
