I passed my trailer test today :D
Only got 2 minors too, so very :D :D

It now means Bill and I can go to things during the week and even have lessons during the day  :D And of course, go to shows on our own (although I'm not allowed to go to events on my own unless my friends are there) :D

Woop :D

Well done! Thats great news, no stopping you now!

You might know this then...I have a pre-1996 licence so are lucky enough to have the trailer bit on it...and tow very regularly these days....am I able to sit next to me sis if she is towing the trailer with L plates on it....or not?

Congrats!!!! It is very liberating, I've been out every weekend since passing mine :D

DragonSlayer - best to check the DVLA website but I don't think you can, there was a debate about "grandfather" rights and I think it referred to your situation.

Yes you can :-)
well done! im doing mine soon! bloomin expensive isnt it!

I'm looking into doing mine & massive article in one of this months horse mags - the person who sits with you whilst your learning MUST have actually passed the trailer test & held that license for 3 years minimum or its illegal. So you can't just have someone pre 97 with you. Hope that helps!

Not true for trailers. Only for 7.5T lorries. Unless it's changed since November when I took my test.

OP, congrats. You beat me, I needed two attempts! Tres expensive!

taken from the BHS
From 6 April 2010 drivers who passed their car driving test before January 1997 will no longer be able to act as ‘supervising’ drivers to those learning to drive small lorries, buses and vehicle plus trailer combinations (but not car/horse trailer combinations i.e. Category B+E). Crucially for the equestrian industry this will include 7.5 tonne horse boxes.

which to me says car/ horse trailer combinations are fine. category b+e
