wood pellet bedding

A friend of mine uses one of the wood pellet beddings (the sort you water and it swells up) but rather than buying it marketed as horse bedding she buys the bags labelled as fuel. If it is labelled as heating fuel there is only 5% VAT due rather than the 20% on horse bedding. Any one else do this? Any problems? She says she has researched it well and asked the company who told her it is exactly the same stuff -just less VAT on the heating label ones!

I think it often is the same product - though maybe not in every case. If you do a search on this forum you will find lots of info on wood pellets generally.

We bought 'fuel' wood pellets, they are made by Verdo and are great. We also buy wood from this company for our wood fired Rayburn so we were able to get it at 5% vat. Not sure if all companies will charge it at this rate though.
