Hi All

Im looking at changing my horses bedding as he isnso wet and messy. He was on straw and is currently on comfy bed. The comfy is lots better than straw but its still not great.

I have been looking at wood pellets and especially Liverpool Wood Pellets but wouls like to know if people have used them and what they think.

Thanks

On my fourth year of using them and wouldn't like to change to anything else unless I only had the one horse when I'd go back to either straw or Sundown Yellow.
Very quick and simple to muck out, very small muck heap or you can even use it on the garden and cost wise is far cheaper than shavings. Downside is you have to get used to the colour being darker but I've learnt to live with that and the horses lay down as much as ever so they seem to approve too.

Plenty of threads on here if you use the search bit.

Thanks both. I did do a quick search on here but could only find old posts. Will have another look when I'm at home.

I have pretty much had to clear his whole bed out today. Not great.

Just canged two of mine to wood pellets - Much better, less smell and easy to muckout , will be changing the others over shortly. not 100% sure its much cheaper, depends on the horse i guess.

Have just gone over to Liverpool Wood Pellets and will never use anything else. ITs so much cheaper, I got a full pallet and am using just one bag a week 15kg. IM on rubber matting but still like a thick half floor bed with banks. THere is no smell and to be honest I probably could cut down the amount I put in weekly.Twice a week I mix the banks in with the rest of the bedding to stop them becoming to dry and it takes 25 minutes, any other day about 10 minutes to muck out. A fine shavings fork is a must.

Have used lwp for years, think their fab. Takes me mins to muck out. Only use 1 bag per week on rubber matting, and use my poo picking fork and bucket to muck out with.
