Tried a couple of bags last year, had cusion bed down but couldnt get over to get any so put a couple of bags of pellets where they wee, it was very absorbant but made the bed very dusty, wouldnt use it again as im allergic to dust :-/ and dust not good for the gees either really..
i tried it for quite a while, but i found the gritty dust really annoying, and it made my horses cough. also, last winter it was so cold here for 3 weeks that if the beds had been damp they would been have frozen, so i'm glad i'd changed off it again to something dry and cosy (Ecobed cardboard bedding, lovely stuff). by the time i'd faffed around with spraying wood pellets etc etc i decided it took up a lot of time and the saving wasn't worth it!
You will prob wish you had moved over years ago, they dont clump together or stick to rugs like shavings.
I use them mixed with 1/4 Aubiose, I find that keeps any dust down and gives the bed more structure.
The horses absolutely love them and are wayyyyy cleaner. It used to take me 2 hours to do the two of them on straw or shavings, they were filthy, now it takes me less than one hour and that includes doing all the water buckets/feed/hay etc. Marvellous! And they take up a lot less space!
