Hi all, bit of a weird one. Has anyone been told they cannot use wood pellets at their yard due to DEFRA regulation? My YO is saying they need to check and it may not be possible because of some regulations. We can use shavings, and they are essentially the same thing. It's a working farm and our waste bedding is all added to a big farm muck heap for cow and horse waste if that makes a difference. Thanks

I will add, yard owner is tricky and controlling and I think it may be a tactic. A family member of theirs actually runs the farm side of it and said it was fine but YO is the actual owner of the land and can be a challenging character

It might depend on whether the pellets are formed with something that the farm is not supposed to use, as in an organic farm or something.... Maybe if you can show that the wet pellets break down into compressed sawdust it may aid your case?

Yeah, I don't think that was the reason, I did explain there were no additives and that it essentially broke down into just small bits of wood, smaller infact than shavings. To be very honest, I think they are making it the DEFRA thing up but wanted to check. Most definitely not an organic farm..
