Woodchip Paddocks

Does anyone have a woodchip paddock, what do you use it for, can you use them for light schooling? i found out we have one at our yard today and wondered what the were for apart from the fatty poines?!!

i think it would depend on what was underneath the woodchips,like a membrane,any drainage,soil type etc

There is one at the yard where I am as well as a rubber arena. The woodchip is supplemented regularly buy a tree surgeon and its alright for schooling on. I only use the rubber arena if I want a proper dressage size one with markers
