Does anyone know what the special type of wooden flooring is called that you normally have as the floor to your horsebox/
And where you can get it from?
Thanks in advance

Most use phenol board which is just plywood coated in plastic.

When I fitted a new floor in my box I used far eastern Mahoganny plywood. Extremely strong. Coated in in 3 coats of varnish prior to fitting but after cutting and drilling then coated the underside in bitumen paint.

I would look at having an aluminium planked floor fitted, ok its quite expensive but lasts a life time, the ply you would be looking for is marine ply. minimum of 3/4 inch

Thanks everyone, I think what I have at the moment must be the phenol covered wood, as it has a definite man made surface on it.
pathelschoice - could you give me an idea of cost for the aluminium planks for a standard 3 horse lorry? Also, where do you get it from and is it something you could fit yourself?

Put down planking first then marine ply and then non-slip rubber matting.

Aluminium planking requires the metal suppor structures/cross members to be treated first to avoid galvanic action beween the two of them which will cause corrosion and for the planking to drop out..

If you are doing the ramp make sure you silicon around the edges of the marine ply to avoid water ingressing on to the wood and rotting it.
