Wooden horseboxes

Dont think there is, they are heavy unless small or on a hgv chassis, and most folk want big LQs and still be able to carry 3 horses on a 7.5 tonne .. also guess they would be very expensive to build/ maintain

Not quite relevant, but I saw the most lovely old S reg Leyland horse lorry yesterday whilst I was filling up with wooden sides. It was in superb condition, and it just sent me back to my childhood somehow. I wouldn't like to have to do all that varnishing...

not quite the same, but I still tow a nice (huge) old wooden trailer.

it was designed for 2 horses and a pony, but has been converted to take two big horses.

it does weigh a ton, and we have just replaced the floor, but at least we know it won't blow over, or rust through, we can do the maintenance ourselves and it gets "MOT'd" by a trailer specialist on a yearly basis. The guy we use says he sees a lot more problems with modern 'plastic' trailers than with the handful of wooden trailers he sees.

yes the varnishing is a pain, but it's only like re-painting your stables, or cleaning your feed bins out - a necessary pain in the aris.

Now that is a beauty! Lovely condition too.

I've always loved a nice wooden box, they look so smart. But yes, totally impractical for today, especially with weight restrictions.
