I'm still interested in trying wood pellets. I only have 1 horse and limited storage. Does anyone know a good company and what is the minimum quantity they will deliver? (Yard is in Kent). Is there a delivery fee?
Thanks for your time.

PS Are they heavy to muck out (form banks, fork out small bits of poo)? I have a bad back.

Even 1 tonne of wood pellets take up very small amounts of space and can fit into small areas!

My bed is now only two weeks old - I still haven't added any further pellets (but put 30 bags down as my stable is 14 x 16)

Its not quicker than straw to muck out, but its incredibly light, no digging and very easy on your back.

However I am wondering what happens when it starts to compact!!

I've just bought a ton from LWP - delivered in 3 days on a standard pallet and stacked to about 5ft in height. Takes up less less space than 15 bales of straw

Worked out at £2.20 a bag inc delivery.....that's at least a years supply for me!

I've been using them for a few months now with a clean(ish) gelding and find them much easier and quicker than straw - just remove the poo all week and take the wet out at the weekend and add 2 bags, one of which goes in the "wet" area as pellets and the other is soaked and tops up the bed....

we bought a ton from PLQ - they delivered them free and helped to unload. 1 ton was 67 bags, and that was october and we still have 16 bags left. they take up so little space compared to shavings or straw.
we've been semi deep littering our beds, and find they're really quick to do. We add about 1 bag a week to each stable. I can take 1 and a half barrows of poo out between the 2 stables each day in 10 mins.
