I saw someone with a picture of this on FB. A thick wooden sleeper type thing used at the front. I can only assume to keep the bedding in place.

Anyone have one? My mare box walks, so i wonder if this may encourage her not to whilst also making sure she doesn't drag her bedding across the entire stable

I think the wood would need to be carefully chosen, with some kind of grip. I would worry the horse could stand on it, a and especially if wet, it could get slippy and the horse could do the splits with one or both legs. I've not seen the brushes, but hey sound a good idea

I have sleepers across my stable doorways. Mr R made brackets for them so that they can be removed easily but do not get kicked out of place. A secondary benefit is that they act as draught excluders when the wind is blowing from the front of the stables.

They have stopped a lot of bedding getting brought out of the stable as the neds have free access to come and go.

I used a scaffolding plank( cut to size) across the doorway. It had wooden brackets either side of the plank, on both ends, to hold it in place. It could then be slid in and out if necessary. It was done in such a way that when the door was shut it was as flush as possible to the door. I have never had any problems with horses and ponies not managing to step over the plank.
