Scooby and I have won our first ever rosette! The RS has a little show on today, and the first class was the minimus. It was only 1ft9 (Scoobs could've walked over them, and I was the oldest entrant by a good five or six years!), but I was a bit nervous because I've never gone over two jumps in a row before and he was playing up a bit in the wind. I needn't have worried though - he went round at a nice sedate trot, jumped each one perfectly (there were only six) and we got our clear round!

So now I have a bright orange rosette on the mantlepiece, and he got the biggest carrot in the bag and LOTS of cuddles. Annoyingly, I couldn't stay for the rest of the show... now I'm at home spring-cleaning my bedroom and doing tons of homework (or at least I should be

) - but I'll be on a high all day!

Onwards and upwards - the next rosette we get will hopefully have a number on it!

Probably sounds a bit silly to those of you who think nothing of whipping round Burghley (maybe a slight exaggeration...), but I'm so proud of my baby boy - and myself!

Brilliant! I won my first rosette on my horsey last year - I now have 5, one of them is red with '1st' in the middle! I remember the first one though and I display them all proudly on the top of the dresser in the dining room.
You have every right to be feeling right proud of yourself and your ponio!

Thanks for all your replies. We've got the Christmas show coming up in a month or two, so I'll be able to enter a proper competitive class.

Scoobs is loving it just as much as I am - to think, his old owner was considering retiring him as a field ornament!

Well done you.
That first rosette will always be the very special one. I can still remember mine--it was a 3rd in an apple and bucket gymkhana race back in the 60s.

Well done you two

I also remember my first rosette.... it was a third in a trotting race in 1979!!! I still have it

I have won a fair few since, but most I cant remember what they were for... and the ones I won before I got merlin mostly ended up in a skip as OH wanted a clear out
