Henry did A Very Good Thing today....

Was just getting to the end of the walk, approaching where the car was parked so I was just about to call him back and put him on the lead when a squirrel shot across the path and up a tree up ahead

My heart sank, he was off, heading straight for the car and hence the lane

Whistled him back without much hope he'd come back but had to try - the lane is quiet but people drive fast as it's on a straight...

And what does he do but turn around and come straight back, with only a second of hesitation!

He got a whole hotdog sausage for that, and I'm sure the guy that was just getting his dog out of his car when we got back to the carpark thought I was mad as I was walking along in the pouring rain with a huge grin plastered all over my face

Pointless post but I'm so proud of him I just had to share!

In fairness to them mine did come back when they were called today.... I'm just not quite sure where they went in the meantime

GH, to be fair I had lost him a couple of times on the walk to that point - he does tend to vanish off into the woods if I'm not paying proper attention!

There's hope for us yet!
