wellllllllll, Porridge has now, officially, jumped 3 rounds of SJing - albeit it piddly, 2ft3 and 2ft6

And she has jumped on grass!

Really nice day, very laid back and saw the_watcher, CotswoldSJ and there was another forum member there but everytime I went to say Hi she was busy so never actually got to speak to her!

First the clear round, thought I would take her in so she could get her spooks out of the way - jumped the first, napped out of 2 as there was a filler propped up against the fence next to it

. Came back, popped it fine, jumped everything else OK even tho she was very *looky*.

2ft3 - knocked number 1 down - ridiculous rider error, it was only about 2ft

she went fine down to 2 this time (yay). I was riding with stupid long reins and my line from 7 to 8 was crap to say the least - I made her jump it, at a very acute angle, from pretty much a standstill, and it was a Cross Pole so that came down (as we jumped the highest bit LOL), left everything else up.

2ft6 - the fillers all came out and there was a wall too. Well blow me down I rode number 1 terribly AGAIN and that came down but she jumped everything else with encouragement (and a high back end kick LOL) even tho muppet here NEEDS TO SHORTEN HER REINS (on the plus side I know she will jump from the acutest angles LOL).

Didn't bother with the 2ft9, thought she had done enough and we had a 40 min hack home. She got better and better though, she DEFFO jumps better as they get bigger and I know that I MUST wear spurs and carry a stick

Tackley show next week methinks

How clever, she sounds like she's gtting more and more confidence in you... so you coming to Summerhouse next? Sienna can give her some hints... how to deal with mum when she's being a muppet, she can tell Sienna all about thins jumping at speed stuff off acute angles.

OMG Tackley SHOW!!!

Those were the day... actually what a good idea, may come over too

could do with some grass, sjing experience before MM.

Just watch out of lots of kids on mental ponies, years ago, Tackley was basically the first show of the season, such fun, so many memories, but omg its madness lol
Now a days there are more shows over the winter.
I remember seeing YO winning the Old Folks Sjing, she was screaming with delight doing her lap of honour whilst her poor son S was in the other ring with a broken arm LMAO

Well done today, sounds just what P needed, she needs a few more confidence runs and then she will be force to be reckoned with BSJA.

Porridge looked lovely today and I am sure will come right with more outings

Sounds like an HHO invasion at Tackley next week, I will be giving the Highland an early airing in preparation for the bigger shows and i think Binkybex is going too

yey - i was also there today and got a rosette ( for the spookbusting/clear round course at the start!) though soooooo pleased as horse never ever done a course before and never ever been to competition even though he's 14! he was such a superstar - he would have gone clear in 2'3 had he not sneezed before one of the fences! I am now full of confidence and over ambitious again! See you at Tackley!

Hey!

i think that other forum member was me! or it could have been Moomin6 who was riding mole for the watcher. Sorry I didn't get chance to say hi. glad you two did well. still have to give email address to marie as haven't spoken to her yet.

How lucky - to have a show within hacking distance. Sounds like P is starting to enjoy parties.
I am a naughty "reins too long" person as well, OH bought me some rubber reins with stops on, so I can tell when they are starting to slip, will I send you a photo??
Fiona

No it was you, I am just careful about posting people's IDs in case they don't want people to know where they are from!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your horse! We shall meet properly soon

How did you get on in the 2ft6 & 9??

YES PLEASE! As I rode home I was lecturing a young girl with us about shortening her reins, I told her I am going to put martingale stops up my reins, so would love to see the real deal!
