Words Fail .......

I just find it suspicious they managed to spell the title:
"3 yrs 14.2 hh Brown New Forest - Aberdeenshire" so perfectly ...

Dyslexics can learn to spell after much effort. My Dad can spell our address, our surname is not an easy one (its very rarely spelt correctly even when I do spell it out for people) and he can spell that, he can spell the names of those in his imediate family but not his sisters or neices/ nephews/ daughter/ son in law etc.

Whoever it is has probably had certain words "drilled" into them. An old college friend wrote my name and address thousands of times so she could write (send a tape with updates of goings on) and keep in touch.

It was probably copied from other adverts or selection boxes.

Anyone who has sat and watched someone with dyslexia try to write something like that would know how very hard it is for them. They can say it, they know what they are on about they just can't get the letters together to make a word on paper.

From the wording I would guess that this chap is quite young early teens. Good on him for trying to find his pony a good home before he can't look after her any more.

Yes the advert is terrible, maybe our travelling friends but at least they have made an effort to take photo's in a nice clean stall and a big haynet which is great.

Sometimes we get too hung up on the written word, me included, and should see past that.

I think who ever it is has dyslexia. Think about how a Scot would pronounce the word "she" it would be sheey. I think its taken alot of guts to write this advert. The vast majority of people I know who have it would never attempt such a thing and the fact that each incorrect spelling is the same shows that they have put much effort into it.

My Dad is very intelligent and he struggles every year to write Christmas cards, to the point where he is practically in tears, he can't spell names he gets his words mixed up, he does it because he knows that his side of the family really aprichiate the effort he has put in (and Mum forces him so he keeps practicing). Yet get him doing his job and you would not find better (apart from my brother who was of course trained from a very young age!).

Sorry but I actually think its wicked to take the micky out of this person. Why not have a go at some one because they have brunette hair?
Only concern is that there is no passport - did they loose it or did they not know that they had to get one?
I agree, I always get picked up on my spelling on this forum, so what if people can't spell!!!! What's the big deal. It has nothing to do with how you can look after the pony.

It just makes me so cross when people judge like this. Its typical "keeping up with the Jones'" mentality.

What happened to the days where what mattered in the horse world was how well you looked after your pony/ horse and not how big or impressive it was? Where have the days where if someone was a novice or needed help everyone clubbed together to help out?

I brought Alfie from a chap that was severly dyslexic and he was so embarrassed by it. He wouldn't read the paper work but he knew everything about the horse, could recite his breeding and their performance going back several generations. I couldn't do that!

My own father has made others millionaires through his ideas and yet would never have the confidence to go ahead with one of them himself because of this attitude to his dyslexia. At school he was beaten for it (which made it far worse), my Grandparents were vile to him thinking he was lazy until it was diagnosed (not until he was in his 30's and had worked his way through uni).

Give the lad a chance. At least he isn't using that God awful text speak that no one over the age of 25 can understand.

Do you know this person then? As I think the people who are talking about this are thinking it's a child or a hoax.. Not someone genuinely with dyslexia trying their best to write out a decent add...

If the latter, then no one has a problem (of course!) but if it were a hoax then it's an odd thing to do!

I have some clients that are ex-gypsies. Very few of them can read or write at all and can only just sign their names. Yet ask them what tractor they sold to Jo Bloggs 3 years ago and they'd be able to tell everything about it.

No I don't - but I also do not assume that a person is stupid or a hoaxer just because they can't spell.

And yes if it is a hoax it is a VERY odd thing to do... Seems a bit of a bizzare thing to do if it is a hoax though eh?

I actually, and for the first time ever, don't really care about the spelling because the pony looks extremely well cared for and I love the fact she hasn't been broken to ride because she's too young.

Ticks many boxes for me...

Beat me to it !
There's a real effort being made to point out that the pony isn't yet broken to ride.

Maybe it was done on purpose in the hope that someone would put the link up on here & increase the views tenfold?!! ;)

I'd love to ring and hear what they have to say about the pony- I noticed there isnt any real info about the pony i.e if its wormed/good to trim etc etc

Completely agree with Paddydou/bright eyes. Obviously well looked after and think it's a shame that the spelling is even a issue. I think to assume it is stolen and its worming and vaccs aren't up to date simply because their spelling and grammar is not great is awful!!?? Maybe they are very dyslexic or maybe it is a hoax/child, but I think you're attention is better given to horses that have bigger problems than it's owner not being able to spell.:D

Speaking as a teacher in Scotland, please note this person is NOT one of my pupils - at least I hope she/he is not! (If so I shall have to change career!)
I had to wonder if this was for real, but, if not, then why would anyone think it was a good idea to do this?

At first i thought maybe its the accent, but then I thought of my Scottish friends and she is fine with spelling. So I'm baffled. And I' sure you are a very good teacher.
