I'm very lucky! I work a whole 35 hours a week flexi time. I wake up about 7ish, go and sort the horse and get to my desk about 8.30ish, finish about 4.30 having taken an hours lunch, come home, have tea and go to the horse about 5.30sih, get in anywhere between 6.30 and 9. I am lucky in that the horse is 4 miles ish away and work is less than 3 miles away, but it feels very easy and doable to me, even with dogs and an OH who works shifts
I'm up the yard by 6 at the latest and in work by 7-7.30. Finish by 6, in winter I go straight to the yard but in summer I go home first for dinner before back out to the yard until the sun goes down
I get up at 2.30am, start work at 3am finish at 8-8.30am Mon- Sat, dash home, shower and change.
Catch a bus to uni Mon, Wed & Fri for classes between 9.30am-5pm. Catch a bus home....
I see my gelding on Tues, Fri, Sat and Sun. He is on full care.
I work full time 35 hours a week but thankfully manage my diary. In winter I usually go up and turn pony out, head to work and arrange my diary so I can get to the yard for 4pm to bring in when it gets dark and muck out. If I have a meeting which means I'm out all day, it's an earlier start, I'll get to the yard for 7am and do all chores and pay for someone to bring in for me.
I am looking to switch jobs and if I got an office job that was 9-5 I would aim to do all chores in the morning and pay for someone to bring in when it gets dark early. Now pony is out 24/7 it is so much easier! And cheaper!
Mine are typical of NZ horses, in that they live out and I visit once a day. I work an office job, and last year was doing 8:30 to 5:00 pm, which meant in the middle of winter it was dark by the time I got down there. Got to change to a shorter lunch and a 4:30 pm finish last summer and starting next week will be working 8-4, which will be bliss. It's about a 40 minute drive from work, depending on traffic, and I get changed at work and go straight from there.
Full grass livery! I work 40 hours a week but over different shifts so can start any time between 10 am and 6 pm. If I'm starting in the evening then I'll see mine in the morning, and also on days off. Yard is 15 minutes from home but work is 40 minutes so won't go if I'm starting/working an early shift.
Full livery. BC (before children) I would get up at 6, leave the house by 7 and go turnout/muck out on the way to work. Worked 9-5:15, then back to yard and ride, finish off any jobs from the morning and usually get home by 8.
I'd love to be more involved in her daily care now but have to compromise with OH with how much I am around to share kid duties!
Up at 6am in winter, 6.30 in summer. Go to yard, chuck out, muck out/water and poo pick depending on time of year, home for 7.30, shower and work. Finish about 6pm and back up to feed, ride, groom or whatever.
OH pretty patient in that we don't usually eat until 9ish...
I'm on DIY/assisted DIY livery & mainly work 9- 5.30.
I'm at the yard for 6am in the winter - I feed, full muck out, waters & haynets, pick out feet & change rugs if necessary & turn out (winter field is 5 walk each way) & aim to be off the yard by 6.45/7am to get home to shower, hair/make up for work.
In the winter, my YM brings in & I'll go down to groom/ride/spend time with him after work.
In the summer he's out at night - so I get to the yard about 6.30 to bring in, put bed down, feed, groom and re-apply fly spray etc.
In the evenings I exercise, turn out, much out & leave the bed up to air.
It's hard work & I'm rarely home before 8-8.30pm at the latest, but it quickly becomes routine & you get used to it
