Hello All,

Firstly, I'd like to apologise for how rarely I come here (and then barging along begging for help). I have no excuses..

MrsMozart suggested that I ask on here for work experience (vet university) as we live in an area with very few sheep and I really need to find some lambing work. I've had little luck so far (one herd with a willing farmer, but only 30 sheep). If any one can help at all, I shall be forever grateful.

Cookies and hot chocolate to anyone who helps. :) :) :)

I replied in the careers & education thread, but just incase you haven't seen it (and because I now know that you do live nearish to me!) I thought I'd reply here too.

We don't seem to have that many sheep round here but there are places if you know where to look - Chatsworth have plenty but book up quickly (you'd have to ring in October time for next years lambs) and there are quite a lot round the Newark area. If not, I know loads of people who go out lambing to places and stay over - generally Wales, North Yorkshire and Scotland - would this be an option for you? There are often adverts on gumtree asking for lambing help! Another way is just to ask any vets/farmers/feedshops if they know of anybody with sheep. PM me if you want the names/numbers of some of the people round Newark way - i've also got the number for someone out near Chesterfield too, if that's closer than Newark :)

There are lots of chickens in this area btw, outdoors and indoors! And dairy work shouldn't be too hard to find, but there aren't any abbatoirs that will take on work experience students - I looked when I was applying :( Have you sorted out any equine work aswell yet?
