Ok guys i am in my 2nd year at uni and have been givien the opportunity to do a work placement 20 weeks over next summer.....

i have ummed and ahhhed about wether to go abroad to look at gentics in breeding etc to a vets as i may go down the route as a 2nd degree in veterinary or wether to find an event yard to really crack on with my ridign as i eventually want to take my A test riding, and also the ponies are goign well and it would be a shame not to be able to compete them next season....
I am based in surrey I am willing to go anywhere as long as i can take the two with me or there is cheap livery nearby to keep them... I am hoping to go somewhere where i can have an opportunity to compete as well as get training... I understand will prob be hard work but am wondering if any of you guys have any tips as to which event riders i should try and approach?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, I used to keep my event horses at Mark Corbetts yard in Basingstoke. I was there for 6 years (have now moved up north to do my masters degree) and they accept work experience people. You will be able to compete still and have lessons from mark. They also go to tweseldown and hoplands alot for training.
The yard is called Rawlins Farm, they have a website.
Hope this helps

I split my work experiance and did a few weeks with WFP and the rest with a breaking yard as had too many commitments to move completely for a few months, Could be an idea if you can't find a place for both your horses?

thanks guys much appreciated i had a lesson with mark when i was littl eyears ago in pc at twes really enjoyed it ... is there any chance you could PM me contact details for WFP or mark corbett x

If you go onto WFPs website his contact details are on there, I wrote a ltter but see no reason why you couldn't email, good luck!!

I did my work experience at Jane Holderness-Roddam's yard. It was fantastic! You can take your horses there if space and they are always at a competition so no doubt you would get to compete. is you type in west kington stud into google you will find her website...

I don't think you can take your horse to WFP's yard buyt may be wrong.

Jeanette Brakewell accepts work exerience people and its a really nice yard there.

Wow thanks guys for response.... Am actually q excited now! Where are janette and lucy based? any contact details would be fabby thanks again x

You can take one horse to WFP, but not both (unless you're uber rich)... You should be ok taking both to Lucy W, as long as you're willing to work your arse off, and when i say work, i mean work like you've never worked before!!

Might be worth sending a letter to the Fredericks too, they have working pupils who I believe can take one horse along.

Bill Levett, near Broadway in cotswolds takes working pupils, you have a horse to compete at pre novice on, dont know about taking your own though.
