but no Manager is in, we have noone to call, nothing to do (this has been like this for 2 weeks) and I could pretend i'm sick & go home....

BUT I always feel guilty about it - should I or shouldn't I? Has anyone else ever been a bit naughty and gone home "ill"?

Nope! Absolutely nothing! I sell Glowmax from a fuel company and we phoned all of our customers 2 weeks ago and they've run out of things for us to do.... we're going through a tranisitional period of doing inbound calls which was supposed to be set up beginning of this week and now won't be till next week...

And not being bigheaded I do use my initiative and I've used it to the extent of there's nothing else we can do to sell the product to our exisiting customers!! Lol. Arghh!!!

Don't do it, i did it once 28 years ago and have never considered it since. I worked Saturdays in a frozen food store and the only way to get time off was for weddings and sickness, so I said I had a wedding cos I wanted to go to a hunter trial.
Had a fantastic day did brill and had my picture taken by the local paper, I was well chuffed.

I had to go down to the local newspaper and beg them not to use the picture, thankfully they didn’t.

Close call but I never did it again.

I have concerns with the number of you guys bored at work because when things are tight in a Company they look for excuses to lay people off without having to pay out redundancy etc. Its no good burying your head in the sand and saying doesnt happen because it does!

It may be worthwhile some of you keeping an eye on your employment contract and seeing what references are made to use of the Internet in Company time. If your Terms allow this no probs if they dont well what can I say!!
