So I'm planning on doing a gap year well more of a go abroad and see what it's like :)
I want to work in a rance or something along the lines of horses, paid though so I can pay up keep and that.
Anyone have ideas where to start? I googled it and not a lot came up! Just wondering if someone on here has done it before :)

Careergrooms and yardandgroom.co.UK usually have loads of vacancies all over the world :-)

I went to Italy one summer, was interesting and worth doing although it was a bit daunting for me not knowing any Italian and I seem to recall I cried quite a lot like a homesick exchange student hahaha... Oh well you live and learn and most people are made of sterner stuff than I was at 19!

I went to Italy for a year too, didn't speak italian either, which was a problem as I was working as an instructor! Soon picked it up when horses started crashing! Had a fab year, one of the best.

I worked on a horse safari in Africa for a while (just back!) and was awesome
I googled the places and sent emails off to them along with my cv, no prior contact before then.

You can be more successful than you think!

If you want to work on a ranch monanta

There are always loads of polo jobs in NZ and Oz- you don't necessarily need polo experience and its a good way to travel as you play away tournaments at other clubs. Try contacting polo clubs if that sounds ideal and they'll always have people looking to hire and the season is our winter here so nice to get away!

Best thing to do is just google lots of places, look on facebook pages, websites like yard and groom etc. and make a list of possible places and fire off an email and a CV and hopefully some of them will get back to you :)
As others have said polo is pretty easy to get into, I spent 3 months last summer working at a polo yard and absolutely loved it. Or you could try racing if thats something that interests you? Again they're always on the look out for new people.
I'm hoping to spend the 3 month uni holidays working at a yard in Ireland this summer so I'm just trying to contact places at the moment too! Hope you find somewhere, good luck, I'm sure you'l have the most amazing time ever :D
