Working Equitation...

Its a great sport. If you You Tube it you will see examples. Type in "Marcia Wakeman" and you can see her and the rest of the English team who won bronze at the Europeans in 2009. Google "Sussex Lusitanos" as Sherene is really involved in the organisation of the sport.

There aren't many competitions in the UK that I know about so can't say whether there is anything in your area, but Sherene will be able to advise you.

I train with Marcia and we are lucky that when the weather is good she runs clinics at my yard in Hertfordshire. Good Luck in finding something close to you.

Any breed can do it. On my yard we have Lusitano, Spanish, Irish and Cobs who do it. Its great fun so I really hope you manage to find somewhere to have a go.
Another alternative is to look at the videos and then build some obstacles yourself. If you contact Marcia through her website I'm sure she will be only too pleased to help you set something up. There's also a lady called Torri Peters who is based in Lancashire. Unfortunately I don't know of anyone further North, (and I think you are in Aberdeen)

Yes, I am in Aberdeen, but when I finish my Uni course in a couple of years I will probably move!!! Even if there isn't anything up here, I would like to train my neddy and I'm happy to travel to see them in action!!!

Sussex Lusitanos definitely look like the most active!!!

Is there a competition at hartpury each year?

There's pine lodge of classical equitation in norfolk which do a lot of working equitation. They go to a lot of competitions and do displays/lessons. They import andalusians and lusitanos. Have a couple of stallions so maybe worth googling?

Another vote here for Marcia. I used to be stabled with her and I loved watching her and "T" (gorgeous Lusitano stallion) doing their stuff :D She also does plenty of training and clinics and as Herts05 said, she was a member of the medal winning European team.

Marcia is also lovely, really friendly, approachable lady and really knows her stuff. Definitely worth contacting if you want some info! :D
