VETS! Give up the mud and the cold, come and be a large animal vet in Aus and they will welcome you with open arms!! and pay you!!! Bring an OH, preferably a Dr and they will role out the red carpet!
Ok not quite but there are a shortage of both in many rural areas.
Downside a 'call out' may be a 100km one way, the mud is replaced with dust and the livestock are fare less tame. Also you might have to live in fairly rural areas but the concept of a 3hr trip to a DR comp soon becomes the norm
I'm an Ag scientist with the gov, life is made a lot easier with the concept of 'flex-time'. I'm a new grad on min salary and manage to fund a horse & compete, keep the car & trailer on the road and save a bit of money. However I would never have been able to buy the car & trailer if I hadn't managed to save up a signif sum over my last year of Uni in the year it took me to find a real job, while living at home paying min rent.
I wouldn't have to live quite so frugally if I wasn't planning a year volunteering with NGOs in SE Asia to push my career in the direction I want in the near future. It will mean no horses for few years so I'm trying to do as much as possible now.
Thanks for that everyone, gave me something to think about anyway!! spoken to quite a few people now and think im going to look into secondary teaching
