I tried my first Working Hunter class yesterday, it was only a little local show but I didnt have the lorry and I thought as it was hacking distance we may as well go and have some fun.
Vay was so so good! The jumps were tiny and really a bit beaneath us
but I still managed to pull her too tight into number 2, felt her scrabble with her hindlegs round the corner (no studs in
) and poor thing she only saw the jump at the last minute, hesitated and then very honestly jumped it from a standstill (sorry Vay!).
She was immacualty behaved standing in line and tucked her little nose and flicked her feet in the show and we came 5th. Pleased with this as there were lots of chunky monkeys and being a TB she isn't really the type.
The thing im also very pleased about is we hacked there and back along a busy main road and she was rock solid. We got tangled up in a bike race
and also had to deal with 7.5ton lorries passing us on a narrow road and a white van man going far to fast and nearly taking us out from behind
. We crossed a bridge with the river running underneath and rode through a busy village centre and she was perfect.
I know it sounds silly but she is bred to be a race horse and im so chuffed with her! Shes switched on and talented enough to compete with the big boys affilliated but sensible enough to play around with at the local show and im very very pleased
Here are the link to the two pictures im thinking of getting, she looks quite smart I think!
