So I don't generally do showing, but have decided to enter a couple of working hunter shows with baby horse. I have blue tweed jacket and cream jodhs (think technical name is "vanilla") and my tie is dark blue/navy with kind of lightish pink spots. I need to get a shirt, was going to go with white but now I'm wondering if pale pink or pale blue might work? Or am I better sticking with white? It's only fairly local level stuff so probably not overly important but don't want to look too silly 😂 Brown/green tweed seems to be more popular these days based on my Google searches!

I would stick with a white shirt. As long as you’re clean and tidy it really shouldn’t matter. Blue tweed will be ok at local level, if you get on well maybe start looking at eBay or similar and you might be able to pick up a green / keepers tweed jacket. Remember if you’re doing working hunter your turnout should be ‘working’ rather than pretty showing as in hack classes. Hope you enjoy!

Thanks! I will probably get a new jacket at some stage as I'm planning to do a few performance hunter classes next year but the blue tweed will have to tide me over for the first couple until I get round to it 😊

If your the right sort of shape… you can buy a cheap boys school shirt in pale blue. White is an awful colour for shows, I tend to find that you end up with an awful “tide” mark around the neck. (No I’m not a dirty so and so, arena surface seems to collect there!) and it’s awful to try and get out!

Many school shirts find homes as show wear. As long as the collars are ok and button up they’re equally as good as more expensive ‘equine’ related brands. You can choose long or short sleeve and they come in a range of colours. A yellow duster matched with a white shirt will give you a cream or less white result 😆

I may try this (or if I go with white will try white school shirts!) 😂
My son actually has pale blue school shirts which might fit. Although they are annoyingly expensive and have a little crest on them so I'd probably be better to just buy a pack of cheap ones.
I already pinched the tie from my husband. I've never seen him wear it so I don't think he'll notice!
