Please help, I am looking at getting a dressage saddle for b, but I am struggling to find one that fits me. I have ridden in the ideal jessica and an ideal isabella? with the chunkier knee roll and loved that, and although they are very good for my position, the flaps are so long they practically come down to my ankle. not kidding, I only have 28inch inside leg.

My friend suggested a Working Hunter saddle, but I have absolutely NO experience of these, never seen or ridden in one. would this be a suitable alternative for a dressage saddle? I do like a chunky knee roll, are they very flat 'showing'saddles or do they vary. Saddlery shops up here are rubbish and it's hard to tell from pics on tinternet.

Surely I'm not the only shorty who likes dressage?

I had a Jeffries Stamford working hunter and loved it, I'm gutted I sold it now. I used it for everything including dressage, you might not like it if you like a really deep seat and big blocks to hold you in because its not like that but it is incredibly comfortable and secure, I had to ride very long or my knee went over the rolls (I'm 5'6'')

I am not very tall but then I do not have a large horse I have a 14h pony! I have a Saddle Company working hunter saddle on him, he is rotund as he is a native and has a horse saddle rather than a pony saddle. Here is a picture of him in his saddle. It has removalable knee rolls and the length of saddle flap is fine.

ridden picture so you can see length of saddle flap conpared to my leg.

I have a SC working hunter and even with the knee rolls on it I find my leg comes way to far forward - I've just started riding in a GP and the difference is amazing - me legs are back underneath me again rather than sliding forward.

I did have a fieldhouse VSD before this with had reasonably short flaps and still big enought knee rolls for jumping.

I had a fieldhouse VSD as well before my patriot, I think I am really looking for something more 'dressagy' with a straight cut flap & a knee roll. I like the look of the Stanford. I wonder if a saddle could put long girth straps on and maybe bulk out the knee roll. Do you think that would be feasible?

I love the Stamford my friend has one of these v comfy! I had the GFS VSD to and now have the Albion K2 vsd which is great and a lot more straighter cut then the GFS I think. Mine came with long straps but I had them made 'normal'

I have a farringtons working hunter saddle on my lad and it is brilliant for dressage.

this is my lad in his, he is only 14hh though

They do have a deacent knee roll and are not flat in the seat, they are not as deep as some dressage saddles but certainly not flat
